Assessments of Course Performance (ACPs) are a collaborative product of the Assessment Department and Teaching and Learning. ACPs are used each semester in grades 6 through 12 as part of the student summative evaluation. ACPs are created for courses in Mathematics, Reading/Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, English-as-a Second Language (ESL), World Languages, Visual & Performing Arts, Technology, Health, and Physical Education. Test results are summarized and presented on MyData Portal. District and campus administrators as well as teachers use the ACP results to make instructional decisions. Per Board Policy, ACPs are a part of the course and represent 15% of a semester grade in high school and 10% of a semester grade in middle school. ACPs have a time limit of 120 minutes and will be administered online in the Dallas Assessment Navigator (DAN) platform. ACP Testing Windows

(Quarterly and Fast Track) District high schools offering approved early college and accelerated curriculum programs will use ACPs as the final exams for the core subjects. What are Quarterly and Fast Track ACPs?Quarterly ACP testing is reserved for early college high schools. The core ACPs are scheduled after 9-week learning cycles to accommodate a blended high school and college curriculum. The Assessment Department provides the testing materials and scoring based on enrollment. The respective college campuses accommodate the college-level coursework and testing requirements.
Fast-Track ACPs are taken for accelerated curriculum plans. Students complete one semester within each learning cycle. A full-year of course credit is earned within one semester in designated high school Math or Science courses. Students must meet eligibility requirements and choose to enroll in Fast-Track courses. The Assessment Department provides the testing materials and scoring based on enrollment. District-wide SchedulingQuarterly and Fast-Track ACPs are embedded within the district-wide testing schedule. Both will follow the testing windows below. Campus Test Coordinators will serve as the leads to facilitate the tests.

Common Assessments are tests that are administered only in the Fall semester (Quarter 1) of the 2024-25 school year.
The Assessment department, in collaboration with Academic Services, develops the tests partly using items from a designated item bank and item writers.
These assessments are administered and scored online using the Dallas Assessment Navigator (powered by SchoolCity) platform.

The Assessment Department will provide norm-referenced reading and mathematics testing for students currently in grades 1-11 who apply for admission to the Dallas ISD Magnet Program and who do not have norm-or criterion-referenced test scores from the previous school year. Specifically, the services are provided to students who are applying for admission to academy (elementary), vanguard (middle), and magnet (high) schools who meet the following criteria: students currently enrolled in private, parochial,or other schools, and students currently enrolled in Dallas ISD.
Parents of out of-district students in grades 1-11 must register for testing through the academy, vanguard or magnet high school to which they are applying by the posted deadlines.
All applicants must provide the following information: name, ID number, current grade level, date of birth, current school, parent/guardian phone number, and preferred test date. Schools must submit a list of registered students for testing with the required information to LetLozano@dallsisd.org by the registration deadline(s).
For students applying to a magnet school with NNAT3 as part of the on-campus assessment process:

The address on the identification and proof of residency must be the same as the one that was used to make application for magnet school. Otherwise, a notarized document will be required for verification.
The testing site for out-of-district students in grades 1-11 will be at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center, located 1201 E 8th St, Dallas, TX 75203. Students should arrive no later than 8:30 am to the designated site. Testing will begin at 9:00 am and should be completed by noon.
What is NAEP?
The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), often called The Nation¿s Report Card, is the largest nationally representative and continuing assessment of what students in public and private schools in the United States know and are able to do in various subjects. Since 1969, NAEP has been a common measure of student achievement across the country in mathematics, reading, science, and many other subjects. Depending on the assessment, NAEP report cards provide national, state, and some district-level results, as well as results for different demographic groups.
NAEP is a congressionally mandated project of the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), located within the U.S. Department of Education¿s Institute of Education Sciences. NAEP data are also used in special studies conducted by NCES. These have included comparisons of proficiency standards across state assessments; insights from high school transcripts, including courses taken and credits earned; and in-depth looks at how different demographic groups perform across different types of schools.
The National Assessment Governing Board, an independent, bipartisan organization made up of governors, state school superintendents, teachers, researchers, and representatives of the general public, sets policy for NAEP.

TEA designed the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) to assess the progress that limited English proficient (LEP) students make in learning the English language.
Beginning with the 2017-2018 school year, the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) assessments will no longer be administered. Students for whom TAKS is a graduation requirement, including former TAAS and TEAMS examinees, may pursue the following options to receive a Texas high school diploma.
1). Request a district decision. A former student should contact the school district where he or she was last enrolled to request a district decision regarding whether the examinee qualifies to graduate and receive a high school diploma. More information about this option can be found in the proposed rule Texas Administrative Code §74.1027.
2). Achieve satisfactory performance on an alternate assessment. The alternate assessments allowed for TAKS are SAT, ACT, TSI, and STAAR. Former TAKS, TAAS, and TEAMS examinees should take only the appropriate part of the alternate assessment he or she needs to fulfill testing graduation requirements. More information is available in the Texas Administrative Code §101.4003.
If you are a former student, and would like more information about your options, you may contact TC Support (972) 925-8940 or via email at TCSupport@dallasisd.org.
Click here for additional TEA TAKS information.
The Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2), a redesign of the original Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA1), is part of the Texas Success Initiative enacted by the Texas State Legislature and was designed to assess test takers readiness for college-level coursework in the general areas of English language arts and reading (ELAR) and mathematics. Unless exempt, entering college students are required to take tests in ELAR and mathematics, which either classify them as college ready or provide a diagnosis to 1) facilitate entry into the appropriate developmental education course or 2) support co-enrollment in a developmental education course and an entry-level, credit-bearing course within the same semester.
If you're not ready for college-level courses, the tests help determine what types of courses or intervention will best prepare you for college-level work. You take TSIA2 tests on a computer and, depending on school policy, may get your results immediately after you finish the test.
